Here's the current vs proposed layout of The Parade using the StreetMix street design app (www.streetmix.net).
It shows just how little impact the proposed changes will have. In fact, they are essentially just swapping the location of parked cars and the current, painted, bike lanes. Cars will have just as much space to operate in as they do now. A few carparks will be lost. Pedestrians will be unaffected. But cyclists will be much safer placed between the pavement and parkedcars, rather than between parked cars and traffic (which includes trucks and buses). The 'current' view here shows The Parade south of the shops where there are at least painted bike lanes on the road. North of the shops the situation is even more ridiculous. The drive lanes are 4m wide and even the median strip is 3m wide! If motorists are upset at having less room to manoeuvre then let's be clear about one thing - it's because they currently enjoy much more road space than they actually need and don't want to make any concession to cycling whatsoever. These pictures prove that there is plenty of room on The Parade for all the main transport modes to fit comfortably into their own dedicated space.
